Mama

Today would have been my Mama's 87th birthday.  It's funny I can't imagine her that age.  She passed away almost 19 years ago.  Way too young.  I don't think a day goes by without thinking of her. My daughter and son were very close to her. She was an amazing Nannie to them. It was such a shock to lose her.

Mama had a "big" personality.  That proved to be hard for a shy, sensitive daughter.  She always encouraged me to be more outgoing and social.  You see, she was the shy, sensitive one in her family.  I guess, we as parents always want our children not to suffer through the same things we did and can over compensate as parents.

This sherbet dish is one of several that belonged to my Mama.  She always made chocolate pudding in these for us when we were little.  I love having them.

I grew very close to my Mama as I grew wiser.  I miss you Mama and I will always love you. ♥

This is a photograph from Mama and Daddy's 25th anniversary.  They were married on Mama's birthday 67 years ago today. ♥

  1. You also call your father "daddy." (we always did, and we're not southerners!) I'm sorry you lost your mama at such a relatively young age. Its nice your children knew her and have nice memories.

    1. Dotsie, it's hard to lose those that we love. I always knew I was loved. That's a great inheritance to leave to your children. Yes, Daddy he was, and always will be. ♥

  2. Oh that was much too young! I am still adjusting to losing my mother four years ago. I do not think one ever gets over such loss. My kids were very close to their grandmother, too. I am glad that they shared such a close relationship.

Your parents look very much in love.

  5. I don't think we ever get over the loss of a loved one so close to our hearts, as five years on I miss my Daddy as much as if it were the day he left this earthy plain. You are right, your Mama was way to young. A heartfelt post and a beautiful tribute. Sending you love and hugs ~~~Deb in Wales
