Super Bowl?

I saw this on Twitter and thought it was great for all of us that love Downton  Abbey!  There is a conflict for sure.  What will you do?  Watch Downton or the Super Bowl?  We're  really not into either team but I'm sure we will be watching the game until 9:00 pm and then we'll switch to PBS to watch my favorite show!

    1. Betsy, doesn't Maggie Smith play the most amazing character on Downton? She reminds me of some of the women in my family! ♥

  2. How do I have the temerity to say, that I never have watched "DA"? ,-) But I do have it, because I never have.

    Why oh why? you ask!

I am old enough, to have watched the very first such addicting British import... "The Forsyte Saga" The first one! 1967. It was amazing. And heart wrenching.

So heart wrenching that I could never watch another such saga.

Perhaps someday, I will get "DA" out of the library and just watch the sets and costumes. But never could I expose myself (again) to all the heartbreak and angst, which have to be part of a magnificent production.

Wishing all you devoted fans, well.

    Gentle hugs...

    1. Tessa, I have never watched "The Forsyte Saga" so I can't compare DA to it. I am a very tender hearted person that avoids anything that involves a heart wrenching plot! You might just find DA to be different! The costuming and scenery is divine! ♥

  3. I know I should be more excited since Carolina is in it, but honestly, I can relate more to the Violet!

  4. Thankfully, it is not a decision I have to make! If I did though, Downton Abbey would win hands down. Our RBS Six Nations kicks off this week, so we have nearly a couple months of this ahead of us.
Enjoy your Superbowl and Downton evening

    1. Downton Abbey always wins with me, Deb. I'll have to look up what RBS Six Nations is all about.
Have a lovely evening, dear one! xoxo ♥

    2. Sorry, I should have explained. RBS Six Nations is our big annual rugby union tournament. It used to be the Five Nations {Wales, Ireland, Scotland, England and France} until Italy was 'allowed in' a few years ago. RBS is the Royal Bank of Scotland who are the sponsors, so that could change at some point. Obviously every team wants the Grand Slam {winning every game} but then there is the Triple Crown to fight for between the four home teams, and the Calcutta Cup between Scotland and England. No one wants the Wooden Spoon which is awarded only if a team records no wins at all ~ it is the Shame trophy ;)
      Hope this helps, Deb xoxo

    3. Thanks for the explanation, Deb. Quite involved I see. I honestly think we won't have football in 100 or so years. There are too many concussions and future problems from those injuries. I imagine that may be the same with rugby. Have a lovely day.♥

  5. No conflict here! We have never been a sports fan, even with 3 boys. However, after our youngest left home he somehow got the bug to follow the local team (Ravens). He'll be watching tonight with his girlfriend's family.

    1. Cathy, Grayden is a football fan and over the years I have become one along with him and our son. I am kind of the fan that goes along to be with them! ♥

  6. No Superbowl here, praise be. This way, I can watch Father Brown, last week's episode of Downton Abbey in reprieve, and the newest episode. Sunday nights are so good.

    Enjoy the game!

    3. I looked at your site and I saw the link to me does work. Not sure why sometimes a picture is featured. Thank you for putting me in your sidebar. That's very kind! ♥

  11. Oooops, I meant the icon isn't showing, just the name of your blog. Yes, the link works, but was wondering why your picture isn't showing like the other blogs. :) I have a few like that, and I don't know why. :)

  12. Having given up subscription television more than two years ago, no, I didn't see the Superbowl. I've been reading Susan Branch's reviews of DA and love them; she makes me chuckle. I've got season six -along with the first five seasons - but won't even open the package until it's all over....that's how much I'm enjoying SB's reviews! Yes, Violet/Maggie is a wonderful woman, strong and staunch. Did you know she had breast cancer treatment whiled filming, yet carried on? MY kinda woman!

    1. Sandra, I didn't know that about Maggie Smith. I guess actors are really not that far from the characters they play. You are in for a treat to sit down and watch all the episodes. I think you display some of the similar qualities, Sandra! I do hope your knee is healing. ♥

  13. Oh my goodness...that made me laugh!! :D

No Super Bowl here. No sports fans at our house. (Correction. Kati learned to love professional baseball when she was a part time caretaker for Mr. C.)

Downton Abbey, however, we do not miss!! And Ron enjoys it as much as we girls do!

    1. Yes, DA is a must here as well. I told Grayden last night at 9pm I'd go into the other room and watch Downton. He said, "I want to see it as well." So we watched it together as we usually do. ♥
