Changes

Autumn brings many changes to our homes and our gardens.  Heat needs to be turned on.  Cozy blankets and quilts need to be put back on our beds.  Sweaters hang on the door knobs.  The sunlight in our garden cast longer shadows.  Colorful leaves tumble to the ground.  Flowers react to the cooler temperatures and less daylight.  Beautiful Autumn brings us back into home for tasty soups and stews.  It's my favorite time of the year!

The maple in our backyard is changing to a vibrant yellow.  Can you spot the mourning dove in the maple?  Soon the leaves will be falling to the ground and then they will be gathered for compost as they change.

This mushroom cluster is changing as it turns this mulched tree back to the earth.

Even Samuel's pumpkin is changing daily.

But the biggest changes are our grands since we returned from our six weeks in England.  Our grands have grown so much since we last visited them.  We couldn't believe how much taller they have grown.  Can you see the youngest trying to appear taller?  It's no revelation that children grow quickly.

Autumn will bring more changes.  Be sure to enjoy them all! ♥

    2. Last game was Saturday. It didn’t end too well, but it was a good season overall. It’s always a great day when the grands shoot up past their grandparents. 😃 My grands are not yet taller than I, but they have bigger feet!

    3. I've always heard you need big feet to be tall. They'll be over your height soon. Miles' game didn't end well either, but you can't win them all. Glad to hear your grands are still playing. Have a nice afternoon, Vee. ♥

  8. Yes, I feel the Autumn changes, Martha Ellen. It's so cold this morning. It's time to get the sweaters out. Your grandkids are such handsome young men. And I love Samuel's pumpkin even if it's a bit droopy. Your maple is beautiful with the yellow leaves. I'm not seeing much yellow around here this year. Yes, I think I see the mourning dove! - is she in the middle of the tree? I always enjoy your posts, Martha Ellen. I really do.

    1. Sheri, you are the first to spot the dove. Well done! It's chilly here as well. Samuel and I got the leaves up from our front yard this morning and we quickly warmed up to the exercise. We don't have a lot of red here, but I so enjoyed seeing your's! Enjoy your day, my friend. ♥
