Happy Thanksgiving

I can't let Thanksgiving come and go without letting my friends here know how thankful I am to have formed ties with you!  I'm grateful for all the good times and the sad times we share together.

These little candles have been in my collection for a long time.  The 26 cent price on the bottom of them tells me they weren't bought anytime recently!

I hope your Thanksgiving is full of all the special moments that make you happy.

Our son and two grandsons will be joining Grayden and Samuel and I tomorrow.  We'll be having all the traditional Thanksgiving foods.  I'm remembering last Thanksgiving when we served a roast beef because of many changes of plans.  It really doesn't matter the food, but the fellowship with family that is important.

Thanksgivings have changed over the years for us.  How about you?  Have your traditions changed like ours have over the years?

This Thanksgiving I am reminded to be kind, be thoughtful, be genuine, but most of all be thankful!  Have a great time of Thanksgiving, my friends!

  1. You have such a special collection of seasonal collectibles Martha Ellen. I love them all. You are right, it’s the special company around our table I am most thankful for, not the food we put on it. Plans more often than not get changed. I am very thankful for your friendship dear friend. You are such a blessing. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your dear family.

I have decorative candles purchased my first year in America ~ 1978! Your decorative touches are perfect.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving to you Martha Ellen! Same traditions here of turkey and dressing.
The food as you say doesn't matter. With families growing larger with my sisters and niece who have grandchildren now, it's not the same as it used to be. We will have son, daughter in law and grand girls. Mama will have dinner with my sister this year and we will see her on Friday for a belated birthday lunch at restaurant of pizza. Her favorite. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family

  9. Oh, I love those little candles. They are perfect for Thanksgiving. My son cooked the turkey this year, and it was his best one, so moist and tender. And he made a green bean casserole, which I haven't had in a long time. It's nice that you got to spend it with your son as well, Martha Ellen. I love seeing all your holiday lovelies in your home. I'm thankful for YOU too. : )

  10. A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Martha Ellen! I'm sure you all enjoyed the special day together. You're right . . . the food is not the mainstay, but gathering with your dear ones and the offering up of our thanks . . . those are the real joys of the day! And, oh yes, I am grateful for you too, and for your friendship through the years!
