Spring is finally making its beautiful entrance to our area. Despite roller coaster temperatures, we are now having daytime highs in the 50's and 60's. On the occasional day it's been in the 70's. It's been wonderful weather to work in the garden cleaning up the last of the leaves. We're having mulch delivered next week so this job needs to be done. This last month has been a very hard one for our family. I'm so thankful that Spring has come to us just in time.
Each one of us has lived through some devastation, some loneliness, some weather superstorm or spiritual superstorm, when we look at each other we must say, I understand. I understand how you feel because I have been there myself. We must support each other and empathize with each other because each of us is more alike than we are unalike.

Thank you, dear blogging friends for being there for me. ♥

Meanwhile, life goes on as they say. I've enjoyed changing the inside decor to Spring. Our new mantle in the living room has been so much fun to decorate.
On the left side of the mantel I placed our pierced Rose Medallion plate along with two glass bunnies and a Lefton girl that reminds me of Anne Shirley. My sister, Susan gave her to me as well as the two pink bunnies. She knew I loved Depression glass and even though they are not from that era they go well with my pink Depression glass collection.
Adding a little nest just made sense.
On the right side I added a Valerie Parr Hill arrangement for height. Along with my Mama's egg and a swan and a little girl figurine they seem happy to grace the mantle.
I've had this bunny for many years and he wanted to be front and center.
I'll share our Florida room mantle and other decor soon. Are you decorating for Spring?
Your living room mantel looks lovely with all the Spring goodies on there. The pink glass bunnies are precious, and your mama's egg is very nice. What a treasure this is. I love the sweet bunny, and my favorite are the porcelain girls. You know, I love porcelain figurines for some reason, and have been looking around for them at garage sales, antique and vintage shops and such. They are hard to find.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post, Martha Ellen. Easter decorating is fun, isn't it? I put a few things out over the weekend. : ) The red cardinal is beautiful, and how lucky for you to see such a special bird around your neck of the woods.

ps The Maya Angelou quote is so special, and so true.
It was so much fun to decorate this mantel as it is much wider than it used to be. Thank you Sheri for all of your sweet comments. It's been a pleasure getting to know you, my friend. I'm looking forward to seeing your Spring decor. ♥
DeleteLovely, Simply lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that caught my eye is that precious from and center bunny.
So precious.
I love to decorate for holidays and seasons.
We have bunnies all around here now!
Have a lovely, cozy weekend. : )
It's fun to collect seasonal items through the years. I've certainly enjoyed seeing all of your Spring decorations. ♥
DeleteThe lighter, brighter days of spring do so much to lift our spirits and slowly you will find peace as these difficult days pass. I have thought of you much and prayed for all. Your Maya Angelou quote is powerful indeed, and wise.
ReplyDeleteI have not decorated yet, I don't do much but will do it shortly. Easter decorating is not as popular in the UK as in America ~ yet! I am sure it will catch on. Your mantel is indeed quite lovely with it's spring adornments.
~~~Deb in Wales xoxo
Thank you Deb. Today we are getting some much needed rain. This has been one of the driest early Springs I can remember. It certainly is a great way to leave March. I'll be cleaning inside today as outside chores will have to wait. Enjoy your day. xoxo ♥
DeleteYour mantel looks lovely. I like your white and pink bunnies and the pierced plate. I just decorated my mantel with Easter in mind. Love this time of year!
ReplyDeleteLiz, it is a beautiful time of year. I hope you will be sharing your mantel. Have a wonderful day. ♥
DeleteYour friends certainly are there with you, Martha Ellen! Continuing to pray for you as your family walks a hard path.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that spring is bringing a bit of cheer. Your new mantle is looking lovely with its spring dress! Of course, I think that mantle would look lovely even if it was completely bare (dentil molding . . . be still my heart!), but your spring decorations are really beautiful and I love that some of the items have family history.
Cheryl, I appreciate your prayers so much. Thank you. Spring is a reminder that there is rebirth of the earth as well as rebirth of our souls.
DeleteHave a happy day, my friend. ♥
Everything looks so lovely! I love the mantle! Have a great weekend!
