Family Easter Memories

Easter weekend was full of memories that repeat themselves each year.  We enjoyed the weekend with our grands coming to do what we do every year.  There is comfort in repetition.  Favorite games, coloring eggs and favorite meals of the season.  Being quite warm allowed us to enjoy the outdoors.  I'm sharing photos of our precious weekend with our grandchildren.

The flowers and trees and shrubs all celebrated the wonderful weekend with us.  Spring is almost an embarrassment of blooms--  It's the most colorful my garden ever gets.

"The year's at the spring,

And day's at the morn;

Morning's at seven;

The hill-side's dew-pearled;

The lark's on the wing;

The snail's on the thorn;

God's in his Heaven—

All's right with the world!"

-  Robert Browning, The Year's at the Spring

Here are a few of the blooms that are delighting us in our garden.

Thank you for stopping by my little world today.  I hope your day is full of the joys that make life sweet. ♥

  3. A lovely weekend for you, filled with memory-making moments. I think the repeating of traditions from year to year is grounding for a family . . . during times of difficulty and stress, even more so. There is comfort in sameness.

    I really love that Samuel is keeping the traditions alive too, right there between his younger cousins. Good times!

    Oh, so many beautiful things blooming in your garden!

  6. It sounds like a wonderful Easter, Martha Ellen. And your garden blooms are so pretty, especially those red flowers with the bee buzzing around them. I absolutely loved the picture of your grandson taking a bite of the chocolate bunny ears. These pictures are truly special. Thank you for sharing them, Martha Ellen.

  10. Such joy! You have lovely looking grandchildren, and such contentment in doing simple, family traditions that they will hand down, I'm certain of it. Making memories and starting traditions! What can be better?
    My garden is at its best in summer, I find. Right now, while yours is in glorious riotous colour mine is languishing with spots here and there in the mostly green borders.
    Much love ~~~Deb xoxo

    1. Thank you Deb, my gardens are mostly shade so I have to be content with subtle color in the summer. I am glad, of course, to have that shade when the heat descends upon us. Have a happy day, dear friend! xoxo ♥

  12. Your garden is full of color and loveliness! I know you made more wonderful memories with your grandchildren. The picture of the boys with the karem board--is that what it is called--brings back lots of childhood memories. I can still feel the soreness in my fingernails from zipping those wooden pieces across the board.

    1. Dotsie, you have the right game in mind. And yes, it does hurt to zing those pieces across the board! I hope your day is going well. ♥

    1. Thank you, Susan. I'm so glad they live only 50 miles away. We can zip down for a weekend or they can come up quite easily. I do love gardening and I think I'll go outside now as our rain has stopped. It's a good time to check on things. Have a great afternoon. XOXO ♥

  14. Wow I'm envious of your beautiful flowering shrubs especially the azaleas! I tried to grow them here but the winters are too harsh and each year I'd end up with less and less of a plant. Our family was always very repetitious too about Easter. There is something very comforting in knowing these events can be counted on for the food and experiences like playing games with Grandpa! We stayed home alone for the first time in years. I had a lot of mixed feelings from it. Looks like you and your family had a wonderful Easter!

    1. Liz, azaleas grow wonderfully in the south. I imagine your area is way too cold for them! The azaleas across the front of our home are about 43 years old. We planted little one dollar shrubs way back then!
      As we age, we realize that celebrating with family may not always be possible. So we are enjoying these times when we can. Have a nice evening. ♥

  15. What good looking grandsons! I've not seen caroms for a long time. So fun! Your flowers are beautiful. So far we have about 3 daffodils that have appeared. Anticipating many more. Enjoyed seeing your Easter traditions. Wonderful family times.

    1. Diane, Miles wanted to find out whether the bunny was solid or hollow. He was delighted to find out it was solid! Everything did bloom overnight here so now we are in a sea of pollen. Thank you for your sweet comments. ♥
