We visited Chatham and Kenmore a few weeks ago. Go here to visit Chatham and to visit Kenmore here.
While we were there the gardens were not yet blooming. We recently returned to photograph the gardens in their early spring bloom. Chatham was still lovely, but Kenmore was past its prime.
Here are a few photos that I took on a cloudy rainy day. I hope you will still enjoy them.
We walked around the gardens at Chatham.
We then crossed over the bridge to visit Kenmore. Looking back at Chatham across the river.
Most of the early spring bulbs were past their prime at Kenmore. Here are a few things still in bloom at the mansion garden.
This is such a lovely time of year. Spring has definitely come to our city!
So, so beautiful!! Isn't it such a delight to see these bursts of color and to know that spring has sprung? There is just something restorative about spring color and green! Thank you for sharing your photos of the gardens.
ReplyDeleteIt is certainly good for the soul when the earth comes alive again, Cheryl! ♥
DeleteIt's wonderful to see the spring gardens of both estates. Wonder why the difference between one and the other.
ReplyDeleteVee, I'm not sure why Kenmore was in bloom earlier. I can only guess it's because the Kenmore garden is suken and would have a different micro climate. Chatham and Kenmore are only about a mile away from each other (as the crow flies) --so they would certainly have the same weather.♥
DeleteYou'd know more about this than I do, but is there a connection between when flowers bloom and the cardinal direction of the flower beds? I know Kenmore and Chatham face each other, so they're facing at different points on the compass, and the flowerbeds might be getting differing amounts of sun because of it.
DeleteYou know, Noel, you are probably on to something there. I was attributing it all to the sunken garden concept, but my goodness I think you are right on! Both gardens do point about to the north, but one is probably slightly to the northeast. Love, Mom
DeleteWhat a wonderful day this must have been! Everything is so pretty and the weather looks great.

DeleteYou took some very pretty pictures, Martha Ellen (the way you framed your shots) and see you are already using collages--it took me quite a while before I discovered where to make them.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy. I'm learning how to make photos look a little neater--Hopefully! Have a wonderful day! ♥

Many Blessings, hugs, warmth and love, Linnie
Linnie, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm a lover of all gardens, big and small. Blessings to you! ♥
DeleteI do feel that I enjoy things as much in the rain as I do in bright sunshine, sometimes more so because the rain gives an alternative angle to the colours and contrasts. Fantastic displays of daffodils and narcissus, which for me are the flowers that give Spring its special qualities.
