Finished

I'm so happy that our interior painting is now finished!!!  We are so happy with all of it and now we can enjoy our home.  It has taken a little longer than we expected, but the end result has been well worth the extra time.
We are now in a rainy weather pattern that keeps me from taking very good pictures so I must delay showing you our progress.

During the days of the painters taking over our home I turned to the outside to view who's visiting the feeders.  Much to our surprise, one morning we had a lovely blue bird visit our feeder.

The mountain bluebird is not a regular visitor to our part of the country.  I immediately had to figure out who this little beauty was.  Our eastern bluebird has an orange breast and he clearly does not.  We frequently see the eastern bluebirds on our walks.  I learned that the mountain bluebird's home is out west---far west of Virginia.

I learned also that he migrates in early fall and spring and sometimes wanders as far as the Atlantic coastline.  It's so thrilling that he stopped at our feeder!  I do hope he has made it to safety with his family.  He's a long ways from home!  Have you ever seen a mountain bluebird?

We were so happy to have him linger long enough so I could take his picture!

Our Viburnum has been flowering and brightening up the rainy afternoons.  We need the rain and we are so thankful to have it, but I must admit I would like to see the sunshine soon.

This week I received a lovely stamped spoon that I ordered from Rosinda.  Some of you may know her blog  http://www.withlovefromthekitchen.com/  You can also check out her Etsy shop at LaVieEnRosinda.

I want to wish all of you a Happy Mother's Day on Sunday!

All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.   Abraham Lincoln

  1. Oh look! What a handsome fellow he is! No, I have never seen a Mountain Bluebird. He really is far from his usual locale. Hope that the sun returns soon. We had sun today after a week of rain and tomorrow the rain will return for the weekend. it does get old.

    1. Thank you, Linda. We love watching the birds at the feeders. I couldn't believe this beauty graced us with his presence. I hope your weekend goes well in spite of the rain. I imagine you need it. ♥

  4. Amazing that this little guy was so far from his home! How fortunate you were that he paid you a visit, and even paused for a photo shoot! :)

Congratulations!! You made it through the disruption of the house being painted! Can't wait to see some pics. We've been in that same weather pattern here so I can identify with the lack of photo opportunities. Rain, rain, clouds, and more rain...

    1. Cheryl, I hope we both see some sunshine this weekend. Your move makes me feel like a spoiled child complaining about painting. I hope your Mother's Day is full of joy! ♥

  5. You are a tease to tell us the painting is finished and then not show us photos! I have never even seen an Eastern Bluebird in my yard. My neighbor has, though, in her yard. This Mountain Bluebird is beautiful!

    1. I'm sorry, Cathy. Every photo I've tried is dark and I don't want to use a flash. We've had bluebird boxes on our fence to attract the eastern bluebirds, but the woodpeckers or some other birds seem to make the hole bigger to accommodate their families. Happy Mother's Day on Sunday! ♥

  6. Wow, the mountain blue bird is really blue! He's so cute, and I love seeing the different types of birds from other areas. I bet you're thrilled that the interior painting is finished. Now you can sit back and enjoy. You know, Earl Grey is Nel's favorite.

Happy Mother's Day, Martha Ellen. Have a blessed day. Thank you for your thoughts today on my post.

  7. I am so happy for you that your ordeal of painting is over and now you can sit back and admire the view while stirring your tea in a special mug with your special spoon!

What a beautiful bird! I've seen such things online before and always thought them to be Photoshopped ~ but now I know different, for you would not dupe us in that way. How wonderful nature is, and garden birds and flowers are two of her most magical creations that bring us so much joy and happiness.

    1. Deb, we were so surprised to see such a bright bird in our yard! He was so vibrant I first thought he was unreal. Even our eastern bluebird is not as vibrant as the mountain bluebird! Yes, nature's gifts do bring joy and happiness. We must take time to be still and drink it all in! Have a wonderful weekend. xoxo ♥

  8. Hello Martha Ellen! What a delight it must have been for you to spot an Eastern bluebird in your backyard! I have never seen one before and I don't believe they come up this way. As a matter of fact, I've never before seen any type of blue bird. I would be over the moon if I ever saw one. Thank you for sharing the photo with us!
I'm happy you're all finished painting your home. It must look so fresh and clean now. Worth all the work, that's for sure! And thank you so much for sharing a photo of your spoon here. How very sweet of you! I hope you enjoyed your tea! I am so very behind on my blog. I keep saying I need to write a new post, but it ends up on the back burner each time. I really have to make the time!
I want to wish you a very happy Mother's day. Hope your Sunday is filled with the loveliest simple pleasures. Take care, my sweet friend! XOXO

    1. Thank you, Rosinda! We are so happy to have the painting done in the interior of our home. They still need to finish the exterior, but the rains have kept that from happening.
We frequently see the Eastern Bluebird, but this is the first time we've seen a Mountain Bluebird. He's quite pretty and so vibrant!
Happy Mother's Day to you as well! Enjoy your sweet family, Rosinda. xoxo ♥

  13. I have seen a few mountain bluebirds but they move so quickly I could never get a photo of them. I can not feed the birds in my backyard as birdseed attracts varmints like raccoons, voles, skunks and the occasional bear.

We are planning on getting new windows and the we will need to paint the ceiling and walls of our kitchen/family room. I look forward to seeing the colors of paint that you chose, Martha.

    1. Pat, you are the first person that I've known to have seen a mountain bluebird. I understand that bird feeders can attract animals that are undesirable to have around. We, luckily don't have that problem.
Good luck with your projects. It's so nice when it's finished. Our exterior is still not finished as we have had 16 days of rain. ♥

The painting continues as the weather permits on the exterior. We've never been so fortunate to have it all done at once. I hope you are doing well and that spring has come in full force to your lovely area. ♥

  16. Earl Gray and Lady Gray...favorites! Unless I'm mistaken, there are mountain bluebirds making a nest in the birdhouse and are often at the feeder. I must take photos and post so someone can confirm.
Have a wonderful weekend, Martha Ellen! (the mysteries of computers...I'm on a laptop and can post...)
