Spring Days

Springtime joys come in so many forms.  The warmer weather signals new growth in our garden.  As buds appear the hope of new life signals warmer days ahead.  Well, maybe as the days of April are fickle with 80 degree days mixed with near freezing evenings.

It's almost, well almost, an embarassment of color that blooms in our garden!

Our youngest grand had Spring break recently and we were able to all go to our favorite place, the beach.  It's wonderful to be with our grands as their busy schedules limit our time we can see them.

Alex was able to spend the weekend with us before returning home as he still had work and classes in college to attend.

It was so good to spend time with our son as well.  It's so hard to believe his sons are practically grown.  It doesn't seem so long ago that he was their ages.

Our youngest grand, Miles has been visiting colleges where he hopes to continue running track.

Grayden and I had such a good time with our grands.  We're so thankful to have three wonderful grandsons.  As most of you know our oldest grandson Samuel lives with us and was holding down the fort at home while working and attending classes.

Daily long walks were enjoyed by all of us as we gazed at our favorite, the lovely ocean!

I come from a long line of beach lovers.  My late cousin and his wife were as well.  Many benches at the beach are left with memories of loved ones.  Grayden and I found Elizabeth and Jerry's near our hotel.

Our time away was a balm for our souls.  Full of great memories of time well spent with our loved ones.

  1. How wonderful!. Sweet photos and always love to see you and your darling family. Beautiful flowers and great beach shots, moon shot also, and must not forget the porpoise. I recognize King Neptune too :) I do find the benches in memory of loved ones so touching. We see them all around our gardens up here and read every one of them. Did you get a flurry of snow this morning? We did and it lasted all of two minutes this time! Enjoy the rest of your week Martha Ellen.

    1. Denise, your comments are so kind and so appreciated. I did not see snow this morning--we are under a freeze warning this evening, though. I don't think April wants to be in Spring. Hopefully our florals won't get zapped. Enjoy the rest of your week as well, Denise.

  2. It's so good to see you post. What wonderful times with family --and such handsome young men! It all looks like such fun. Your bleeding hearts look great. It's been so cold here (and snow yesterday -- gone now) that I worry if mine will ever come up. But then, I worry every year!

  4. Hello! So nice to see you here this evening! And I am so happy you had that very special time with your loved ones. Such a beautiful family. And your spring photos are so inspiring! We had a major snow storm yesterday here in PA, but it will be almost 80 this weekend! Have a cozy evening!

    1. I thought of you, Billie Jo when I saw on the news that your area got all that snow! April is a mixed up one. Thank you for your sweet comments. Stay warm and cozy as well.

  5. What tall men you have in your family! Your son is tall and his sons are, too! How good to get to the ocean even if it was breezy. April sure has been up and down this year.

    1. Vee, the men in our family are tall, unlike us! Everytime we see our younger grands they seem to grow taller. April has been crazy--we're expecting a freeze this evening-yikes! Enjoy your evening.

  6. lovely to see you enjoying the beach again!
Your garden brings me surrogate pleasure. I had to bring in help, they have been indiscriminate with the weed eater, the list of damage to, and devastation of, plants is long and distressing.

    1. Deb, I'm so sorry to hear your help is not working to your satisfaction. I understand as a gardener our plants are special to us. Hopefully in the future they will understand the limits of the use of a weed eater. We do not own one as I detest them! Take care, my friend. xoxo

  7. So wonderful that you got to visit with family at Easter, Martha Ellen. Alex is all grown up, and in college now? You remind me of Jess when you talk about the ocean and beach. She is an ocean lover as well. That photo of the moon and water is very cool and mysterious. And I always love to see the flowers that are blossoming in your garden. The red flower and bee photo is so pretty. I thought Spring came here, Martha Ellen, and then we had rain and hail and snow last week. We'll have to wait for Spring together, my friend.

    1. Sheri, thank you for visiting and leaving such sweet comments, friend. I do adore the ocean and that's nice to hear that Jess does as well. Sometimes I think I must have salt water in my veins! Grady and the boys came up for Easter on Sunday. We enjoyed seeing them again after just having seen them for Spring break. Alex is a freshman in college. Time is passing so quickly these days. Here's hoping Spring is here for both of us!
