How is everyone doing during this crisis? It's a strange time in our world these days, but we all must be diligent with social distancing and staying home. I pray you and your families are doing well. I must admit to missing my family in person. We have not hugged since January! Still, we are making the best of our days. I'm a homebody when not traveling so staying home is no problem for me. It's the not visiting family that is really getting to me. I'm sure it's the same for most of you.
Spring is so lovely this year. I'm so thankful to have such lovely trees and shrubs to view right in my own garden.
The dogwoods are spectacular this year. They brighten any mood I'm feeling while missing my family.
"After all, I don't see why I am always asking for private, individual, selfish miracles when every year there are miracles like white dogwood." Anne Morrow Lindbergh
The bridal wreath spirea is blooming on the side of our home. I love this shrub as it once was growing at my childhood home.
The Nellie Moser clematis is showing off at the mailbox this year.
Flowers make me happy!
Grayden picks me wildflowers when we are out for our walks! These buttercups fit perfectly in my Mama's miniature vase.
Helebores were picked and placed on the dining table.
"Perhaps, after all, our best thoughts come when we are alone. It is good to listen, not to voices but to the wind blowing, to the brook running cool over polished stones, to bees drowsy with the weight of pollen. If we attend to the music of the earth, we reach serenity. And then, in some unexplained way , we share it with others. "
Gladys Taber
I hope you are finding peace and comfort during these days.
What a beautiful page you have, Martha Ellen! And how lovely to have warm enough weather for flowers. I so envy everyone who is seeing flowers and warm weather. It's been so cold and windy. I'm ready for July! And I want it to last for about 4 months! LOL
ReplyDeleteJudy, it's nice to hear from you, my friend. When the weather warms for you all of my spring flowers will be gone. Looking forward to seeing your display when you have blossoms.
DeleteI enjoyed seeing your flowers as they are ahead of ours. Even so, we have masses of Lilacs in bloom and a Peony that has swelling buds. We had some early nice weather and we planted lettuce and now it's turned cold again. I'm with you on missing my son and grandsons. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteHopefully soon we will all be reunited with family, Teresa. Springtime certainly makes life more bearable.
DeleteBeautiful flowers! {that's all I will have to offer too, when I next blog} Just goes to show that nature carries on regardless and all will still be here and it will be well. Nature is the great healer. I am missing my walks, so for now my garden is my world.
ReplyDelete~~~Waving~~~From Across the Pond~~~Deb in Wales xoxo
Deb, I have so much to share here, but frankly don't have the heart right now. Nature is the great healer. I don't know what I'd do without our morning walks and my garden. xoxo
DeleteHow uplifting to visit and admire the beautiful flowers. A joy to behold. We are coping well with the staying at home, missing family dreadfully but using technology as best we can. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThe whole world is in this sad boat together. Somehow that makes it sadder for me. We'll all get together soon. In the meantime we have to remain positive.
DeleteNot especially, but your post is positive and comforting. 🙂🌷☀️🌷🙂
ReplyDeleteOh Vee, I understand. I do hope your spring fills your heart with joy. I know it will! Sending you love, my friend.
DeleteOh Martha Ellen, I love that last quote, and through an e-mail I will tell you why. You have such pretty flowering blooming now in Spring. I've always thought the bridal wreath was lovely. And the dogwood blooms as well. Your Mama's miniature vase is a treasured item. And I love those lamb figurines. You must miss your family so, and I think we all do.
ReplyDeleteStay well and be safe, Martha Ellen. You mean a lot to me. : )
~Sheri
Sheri, this is a challenging time for all of us. I do hope you are finding joy in nature, my friend. God placed it here for us to enjoy. Take care of yourself. ♥
DeleteI'm feeling the same as you, Martha Ellen. Your garden is lovely. My clematis hasn't bloomed yet, but my Dogwood is, but not quite as opened up as yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy. There is a strange stirring in my soul when I can't visit my loved ones. Take care, my friend. ♥
DeleteI miss the hugging, too. But the rest is fine. I adore your blooms -- it's still too early here. I especially love the buttercups. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteButtercups remind me of when I was a child. Jeanie, I'm sure you have held them under your chin to see if you like butter. I sure do! Take care and enjoy your weekend.
DeleteOh how I love Dogwoods. So pretty. Yes, I'm with you that the hardest thing is not visiting my dear ones and being able to hug my grandchildren. Spring is beautiful where you are...
ReplyDeleteEllen, Autumn has always been my favorite, but the older I get the more I love Spring. Hopefully we will all be diligent so we can all be together again. Have a lovely evening.
DeleteYes, Martha Ellen! Missing this time with family, though still very thankful that everyone continues to stay well! You have such lovely flowers! I am no good with gardening! It has to be something that flourishes without attention.:-) xoxo Nellie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nellie for your comments. Sending you happy days as we all do what is right so we can reunite with our loved ones.
DeleteI am a homebody through and through, so I did not anticipate this time at home being so difficult. Having Ron working from home is a huge blessing . . . but it is also a great challenge. I feel as if I was plopped right in the middle of the business world with constant stress, business conversations, and phone ringing. I long for my quiet and peaceful home! And, of course, being separated from family is agonizing!
ReplyDelete(Do I sound like I'm whining? It's been a hard week. I am grateful for the weekend!)
Oh, but spring has been beautiful this year!! I think I have noticed all of the beauty even more than usual.
Cheryl, I understand about having Ron work from home. Grayden did that the last 6 years before he retired. He used the office most of the time to stay separate, but would often migrate into the other living spaces.
DeleteI'm so glad you are noticing the beauty that surrounds us this time of year. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't escape to my garden.
Sending you peace and comfort as you refresh your spirit this weekend.
I'm exactly the same! I've adjusted to staying home, it is the missing family and friends that is difficult to take.

Is is so hard not touching our family. Skype is not the same, but better than not seeing expressions and such. Take care, Amalia. xo
DeleteI love spirea. We had bushes of that growing up in our yard. Beautiful shrubs! Every thing looks beautiful where you are. It's cold and windy today. What happened? It's like winter hit again. Butter cups are such pretty little flowers and always a joy to see growing in the yard and fields. Glad you are all doing well. I am watching the grand girls for their mom and dad. I did go out to Lavender Fields Herb farm in Glen Allen Saturday and purchased some sorel and calendula. Love these days and the best place to be is out side and not cooped up in the house. first thing I do in the morning when I get up is open windows a little while to get the stale air out. Feels so good.
ReplyDeleteBetsy
Sounds like you are doing well during the quarantine, Betsy. I love being outside as well, but I do wish it would warm up a little. Have a great week!
DeleteGosh, your photos are gorgeous Martha Ellen, so cheerful! I am handling the isolation well and hubby and I fill our days and they seem to go really fast. We are often on the phone or on FaceTime and keep in touch with family and friends that way. But I sure do miss those big hugs from our son. He will get the biggest bear hug the first time I see him and we CAN hug, so stand by sonny, lol! Your photos of flowers and spring collectibles are delightful. Thank you, you have definitely added cheer into our days :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your sweet comments, Denise. I feel the same way when we finally get to see our loved ones. We have a weekly appointment on Skype where we all "see" each other. Yesterday we laughed and enjoyed each other's company so much. Take care and stay safe, my friend.
DeleteWhat a beautiful sight seeing the dogwoods in bloom! Love the clematis, very pretty color! Loved that quote by Gladys Taber- lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Liz. The dogwoods are now carpeting the ground with their lovely blossoms. It's been quite windy and chilly these last few days. Take care. ♥
DeleteBeautiful
ReplyDeleteThank you. Springtime is glorious!
DeleteGlad to hear you're safe and well, Martha Ellen. Thank you for letting me know in the comments.
ReplyDeleteHappy May days. I'm very fond of the month of May, as it's my birthday month. : )
~Sheri
Well, happy birthday month, dear Sheri!
DeleteYour garden looks lovely, I enjoyed seeing your photographs.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard not being able to see family. We regularly Skype with ours so at least we see them … not quite the same as in person, but I am grateful to have the internet connection.
Stay well.
All the best Jan
We Skype as well, Jan and indeed it is great to see our family. It's the little things that mean a lot. Have a great weekend and stay safe1
