" I know that my Redeemer liveth. " Job 19:25
When we traveled to South America we had the privilege of visiting Corcovado Mountain to view the Christ the Redeemer Statue. It meant so much to us to stand at the base of this amazing Art Deco statue. After taking a train up the mountain, then an elevator, then an escalator we reached the base of the monument. It reminded us of the enormity of the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior.
This large statue stands 98 feet tall and overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro. Even though this was not the beginning of our visit to South America, I felt it was perfect to share this Easter Sunday. I will write more about this amazing statue at a later date.
Blessings to you my friends.
Blessings to you my friends.
Happy Easter!Hugs from Rio,Brazil.I love your photo.
ReplyDeleteThank you, and Feliz Pascoa to you! We loved our visit to your lovely city.
DeleteBlessings to you as we celebrate our Redeemers resurection! What a treat to be able to see this statue in person!
ReplyDeleteEllen, I was especially glad to visit this tribute to our Redeemer. I'm not a fan of heights and this one tested me dearly.
DeleteI can imagine how amazing it was to stand beneath this huge statue of Christ. There is a 12-foot statue (including pedestal) called Christ, the Divine Healer in the original lobby of Johns Hopkins Hospital. Just 3 weeks after my son's heart transplant he was able to walk there (in his hospital gown with his medication trolley in tow) to view it. He took us there on our next visit. It was very emotional to see him standing there beneath Christ's outstretched hands.
ReplyDeleteOh Cathy, I can just imagine your joy! Thank you for sharing such an emotional time with your dear son. Blessings to you and your family, my friend.
DeleteThis is the perfect post, Martha Ellen. I can only imagine what it must be like to be so close to this marvel.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Jeanie. The sheer size of the Christ the Redeemer statue gave both of us chills.
DeleteOh how wonderful. I once did a report on this statue high above Rio de Janeiro. I can imagine the thrill of seeing it up close and in person.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the report you did, Vee. Happy Easter!
DeleteWhat fun for me to see your photo of that statue. I just read a really interesting book and that statue is center to the story. "The Seven Sisters" by Lucinda Riley. Have you read it? It's good!
ReplyDelete❀.•❤•.✿.•❤•.❀ Happy Easter! ❀.•❤•.✿.•❤•.❀
((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Teresa, thank you for telling me about the book! I would have guessed it to be about the cliffs in England and not about Christ the Redeemer! Happy Easter to you and your family.
DeletePasg Hapus i ti a Grayden. What a perfect image to share on this special day for Christians everywhere, Christ in all His majesty, bringing joy and hope to the world.

Deb, we just visited with our children and grandchildren on Skype! It meant the world to us to see their faces after so long. It is strange not to be with them on this day, but we must stay safe. Hopefully we will all be together soon. Blessings to you, my friend, on this Easter! xoxo
DeleteHope you had a lovely Easter day.

We did, Amalia. Though different, it was especially nice to "see" our family on Skype. Happy Passover, my friend. xo
DeleteHow wonderful, such an amazing thing to have seen. Thank you for sharing. Wishing you and yours a Blessed Easter. Take care and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteIt was amazing, Lorraine. It moved me to tears. I hope you and Gerard are staying safe and well.
DeleteThat is the most beautiful photo, Martha Ellen, with the sun shining right through His hand. It is a reminder to me that better days are coming. I would love to see this statue in person. How nice that you got to Skype with your children and grandchildren on Easter. I find so much joy seeing the girls and talking with them, even if it's on the computer screen. What a very lovely post, Martha Ellen. I enjoyed it so much.

We were so fortunate to have a clear day to view Christ the Redeemer. We were in Rio de Janeiro for two days and the second day was quite overcast. It was a moving experience. When I viewed our photos from that day, I especially loved Jesus holding the sun rays. Yes, better days are coming.
DeleteThank goodness for technology to allow visits with our family. Stay safe, my friend.
I can imagine that this is a stunning image . . . so large, so majestic. And yet, I can't help but feel that even this pales in comparison to our true and living Lord! Thankful for our Redeemer!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, seeing this statue, though a stone statue, truly moved me. Yes, our Redeemer is the living Lord of all.
DeleteI have seen this in pictures and it must be breath taking to see in person. Thank you for sharing this. Faith is what it takes. Things will be better soon.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, this monument to our Savior was quite moving to view. As a Christian, I felt it was a holy experience.
DeleteI have always thought it an incredible portrayal. That must have been an amazing experience to see with your own eyes.
ReplyDeleteIt was, Denise. Though I'm afraid of heights, I'm so glad I was able to go to the top to view Christ the Redeemer.
DeleteHow amazing to see this in person. So glad you got to experience it. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteIt was quite moving, Linda. I hope you are staying safe as well.
DeleteMajestic!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see this in person.
