Our Stateroom

Some of you have asked about our stateroom on the QM2.  As I've said we had an inside room.  We really didn't spend that much time in our room and we wanted to spend that money on our time in England.  You can spend a little more and get a balcony, but we didn't.  I'll have to say I don't think if we had a balcony we would have had a better time!  The prices of the suites, etc. are way out of our league!

Take a look a this link to see our room in 360 degrees.  http://www.cunard.com/cruise-ships/queen-mary-2/accommodation/  Drop down to the Standard Inside Room and that is ours.  This room had everything we needed to enjoy our crossing.  Yes, there are much larger staterooms and suites.  If you have deep pockets, go for it!

Let's get out our key and go in!

I apparently did not take many/any photos of our stateroom.  Here is one of me with Susan Branch's "A Fine Romance" - My inspiration for our adventure!  I am sitting on our king sized bed.  This photo really was not taken to show the stateroom.  There is a wall beside each bedside chest--that is the width of our room.

And this photo of the flowers our children sent me for Mother's Day in our stateroom.

I'm not in the habit of taking photos of bathrooms, but ours was a good size considering it is on a ship.  We had a long vanity style sink with a full mirror above and cabinets below for storage.  Of course the toilet and a good sized shower.  We have been on other ships that had much smaller bathrooms.  So I would rate this one better in size.

There was plenty of storage for all of our clothes.  A stack of drawers.  A cabinet with a safe and more storage and also two separate wardrobes for our hang up clothes.  If you look over the bed there is also storage and two cabinets. That's where I put our cameras and hats and Kindle and a few other small items.  There was also a desk and chair with a mirror and a tv-  Also a small table and a chair (above).

To sum it all up (our stateroom that is) we were very pleased with our accommodations on the Queen Mary 2.  Now, why didn't the steward show up this morning to make my bed?  Last night Grayden wanted to know where the chocolate was for his pillow!

  1. You mean, the first one with the staircase wasn't your room? It would be interesting to stand outside that room just to see who was occupying it! Your room is plenty big, but I wonder if I'd feel claustrophobic without a window? The first thing I do I open my blinds when I get up in the morning. Thank you for the tour. I'll have to see the difference in cost to have a window outside. The atrium window might help, but I'd lose my privacy and not sure that is a good trade-off. I might as well just leave the door open!

    1. Cathy, I open my blinds first thing in the morning also. In fact I hate a scorcher like today that requires me to close the ones that the blazing sun in coming into! I never felt claustrophobic in our stateroom. If you have those tendicies I think you should book that two story suite you saw-Hey, it's only money! ♥

  2. It certainly looks comfortable and would encourage you to enjoy things outside the room, which it sounds like you did most of the time. Keep the stories coming!

  3. That's plenty of space. As we always say, our boat life is about what is on the outside of the boat. Or in your case the inside and outside activities of the ship.
When my husband comes home from SEA I make sure the bed is made up fancy and I put a truffle on his pillow. He just laughs. His new ship has berths like his younger days in the Navy, so he really misses his girl Temperpedica. LOL
When we are on his boat…no chocolates!
    Stay cool today! OX

  4. You must start putting a chocolate on Grayden's pillow once a week, for fun. When I went on a cruise, I slept like a baby, even though the bed was small as a cot. It was the rocking on the waves, I guess.

    1. Jeri, Grayden would love that! He is such a chocoholic!
When we took a cruise with my daughter and son-in-law, and grandson-- Samuel said the same thing about the rocking of the waves! ♥

  5. The way I look at it is simple. If I have a choice between an inside stateroom or no cruise, it's an inside stateroom every time.

You don't go on a cruise to hang out in your room much, anyway. That's where you sleep, bathe, and change clothes!

  6. Oh I see. Guess it'll be no cruise for me! =D I am the sort who would vastly prefer time spent in the stateroom, but that one with no window to see out would prevent me. So glad that there are normal people in the world who get out and DO! Thank you for indulging us who are so curious... I enjoyed the tour.

  7. Thanks so much for welcoming us all into your stateroom, Martha Ellen! It looked just perfect. So glad that you brought along our favorite book, too! Although I have sailed on sailboats, I have never done a cruise or a crossing. I'm so very grateful for all that you are sharing. It will help us plan for our next adventure, too! It must feel like a dream whenever you look back at your photos! ♡

  12. Love seeing the photo of your tickets. I have a box of fun ephemera like that. :-) I think the room looks perfectly adequate for my money, and I agree that I'd rather use the money on more important things than where I sleep. But if you don't have a window sill, where do you put your cheese and meat to keep it cold overnight? Lol . I'm so enjoying your tour.

    1. Judy, I loved your comment about the window sill--I need a good laugh today! I failed to mention we did have a small refridgerator in our stateroom. Thank you for coming along on our adventure. ♥
