If I were a pumpkin,
I'd crawl about the ground,
I'd pick a rich compost area to dig my soul into,
I'd tell my blooms just wait and find just the right place to show your fruit,
Just climb and climb until you reach the spot,
Where comfort will ensue,
What a delightful poem, Martha Ellen. Is that a pumpkin growing in your garden? Oh, I love to see pumpkins at Fall. The colors of Fall are slow up here this year, but I do see the trees changing color. I hope the colors of Autumn arrive to your neck of the woods as well.
ReplyDeleteHave a restful weekend, Martha Ellen. Once again, I have to tell you that your Header is wonderful. : )

This little pumpkin grew up in our compost, Sheri. Only one pumpkin that we see growing up on the transformer on the edge of our property. So funny, but a nice surprise as the vine is all over the place!
DeleteAutumn colors are slow here as well. Maybe both of us will see the changes soon. Have a nice weekend and thank you for your sweet comments!
I hope it's soon! Up here, it would all be over, but you surely have time in your corner.
ReplyDeleteHopefully there is time, Vee. I didn't plant this one, it just came up on its own. Of course there are green pumpkins.
DeleteThis is such a wonderful post, Martha Ellen -- and what a grand pumpkin that is going to be. Love all the photos!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed my musings about my little pumpkin, Jeanie!
DeleteI love your pumpkin poem, Martha Ellen! What fun to watch your pumpkin doing all of those things. I love the deep green color!
ReplyDeleteMy pumpkin waited a long time to reveal its presence, Cheryl. Its vine has been all over the compost area looking for just the right spot. I like the color as well. Maybe in time it will change.
DeleteI absolutely love your poem, Martha. 🎃
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
Thank you, Veronica Lee. It was quite a surprise to see it perched on the transformer! Have a happy Sunday as well.
DeleteBeautiful writing, Martha Ellen. Hope no-one picks you for soup.

Amalia, I will be watching that gardener! Hopefully she will just let me sit on her porch.
DeleteYou've grown a little beauty there. What variety is it please?
ReplyDeleteDeb, I have no idea what variety my little pumpkin is! It grew from a compost area that is three years old. Probably one from many Autumns ago!
DeleteFun post with lovely photos of your growing pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ellen. It was a fun surprise!
DeleteHello!! I love this perfectly pumpkin-y poem! And your pumpkin too! Happy autumn!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Billie Jo. Happy autumn to you, my friend!
DeleteI have never been able to grow a pumpkin. Great pumpkin you have there and the plant is so healthy and green. Happy week end
ReplyDeleteBetsy, the only pumpkins I've ever grown are those that volunteer in our compost. Happy weekend to you as well!
DeleteLovely! Your garden is full of delights Martha Ellen :) and volunteers make it even better! Sweet prose also :) Happy weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise. It's always special when a plant pops up in the compost. I hope your weekend has been a happy one as well!
DeleteIt was very quiet but pleasant, I hope yours was too. And I always enjoy revisiting your lovely photos :)
DeleteI did enjoy this post.
ReplyDeleteLovely photographs of your growing pumpkin.
Happy mid-October wishes.
All the best Jan
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Jan. All the best to you!
DeleteI'm glad you enjoyed Nel's Durham post. I thought about you when I read it, and another blog friend who loves England. Nel really had a special time visiting there, and she even talks about moving to England, which I don't think she ever will, but that's how much she appreciated her time spent there. ; )
